Faith and Life
Fulfills Catechetical Guidelines

"The Ad Hoc Committee to Oversee the Use of the Catechism, National Conference of Catholic Bishops, has found this catechetical series to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church"

The following is an excerpt from the committee's letter of approval:

The Faith and Life series was approved by the Bishops Ad Hoc Committee with outstanding commendations:

A. Commendations

  1. The FAITH AND LIFE series demonstrates that all elements of the Catholic faith form an integral and credible whole, the truth of which is supported by Sacred Scripture, the living Tradition of the Church and the authentic Magesterium. It ties biblical and doctrinal teachings together in such a way that a consistent message is presented.

  2. The entire series is Trinitarian in its focus and carries this as its central theme throughout. It teaches that salvation emanates from the Trinity by clear exposition of these basic themes: God, Trinity, Creation, Fall, Incarnation-Redemption, Grace, the Church and the Sacraments.

  3. The dignity of man, both male and female, is told and retold throughout each level.

  4. The series is strong in demonstrating the bond of unity with the Bishops of the Church, especially with the successor of Saint Peter. But it presents as a more radical unity that which exists among all the baptized because of their participation within the life of the Mystical Body.

The textbook and teachers manuals were approved in their entirety with no revision required for conformity to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

(The committee approved the Faith and Life series, which was printed before the Catechism of the Catholic Church. In essence the Faith and Life textbooks have contained the teachings of the Catechism before it was even printed.)
